Item Description
California amazonite of Pikes Peak Batholith, Colorado quality is fantastically RARE. A sharp, 7.7 cm prism with rich blue-green color, moderate luster and a well-formed textbook termination is nicely complemented by the attached contrasting gray microcline and muscovite on the sculptural and aesthetic large specimen. The quality of this amazonite is excellent and could compete with Colorado material any day. Self-collected by Bob Reynolds, as he was the owner of the deposit. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011. Exceptional and VERY RARE California amazonite! A MUST for the species or locality collector!
