Item Description
One of the true classics from Colorado. Some of the finest Amazonite specimens in the world have come from the pegmatites around Park and Teller County, Colorado. This small cabinet sized display specimen features a group of sharp, blocky, medium blue-green colored prismatic Amazonite crystals measuring up to 4.0 cm with no matrix. The tops of the crystals are undamaged, but the underside of the specimen is contacted where it was separated from the pocket wall. Good luster and nice three-dimensional display on this one. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
