Item Description

This is a great display specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what collectors and dealers know to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of color, quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This particular specimen is a beautiful thumbnail. It features a rarely seen doubly-terminated, rather lustrous, sharp, well-formed, blue-green color Amazonite crystal with distinct, classic off-white color stripes along the prism. The main crystal is associated with a bit of minor Amazonite on the side, and is actually slightly translucent around the edges, which is not seen in many Amazonite crystals. The luster is very good for the material as well. Keep in mind that the best of these specimens (especially with top color) sell for big money these days, and considering that fewer and fewer top quality specimens are found each year, this one would make a great addition to any collection. Keep in mind that this specimen was collected nearly 35 years ago (August 1976), when Richard Kosnar found some of the finest color Amazonite from Colorado extant. Don't miss out on this great Colorado "classic".
