This is a good representative piece from Lake George, one of the most well-known districts in Colorado. Lake George is storied for the Amzonite and Smoky Quartz combinations produced by the pegmatites there. This particular specimen is a nice display piece featuring a gemmy and frosted Smoky Quartz nestled in the middle of a bed of lustrous, well-formed, and soft blue-green color Amazonite crystals. #8667 in Kay's collection, this was acquired from Richard Kosnar in 1979, who himself had an excellent Lake George suite. A Colorado "classic" for the sheer aesthetics of these combos.
