Item Description

Alstonite is a very rare barium, calcium carbonate and this fine combination specimen is from the historic Co-type locality. Clusters of sparkly, sharp, pyramidal alstonite crystals covering half of the massive galena matrix are a dominated by two, intergrown witherite crystals. The classic and striking bullet-shaped crystal is pristine, while the secondary crystal has a broken tip. This is an excellent combination specimen of this rare species and classic locale. Ex Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection and obtained in an exchange with the Hunterian Museum in 1977.
