Item Description

A sharp, reddish-brown, 3.1 x 2.8 x 2.5 cm, almandine garnet is jauntily perched on a mica schist column on this classic specimen from the Ziller Valley of Austria. The textbook dodecahedron has striking and beautiful, gemmy, wine-red areas under strong light and these areas are even visible under normal light. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a very lightly bruised corner. Old-time, excellent material from the Robert Whitmore Collection.
