Item Description
Uncommon, sharp and impressive large almandine garnet from a less well-known district 30 km West of famed Broken Hill. The lustrous, textbook, dodecahedron has mottled reddish-brown color with striking reddish streaks or veinlets on some sides. Patches of embedded green schist are a nice accent. Complete all-around and in great shape. The bit of noted edge and corner bruising is certainly only a modest detraction to this very fine example from this locale. This excellent large 360-degree almandine has multiple fine display views. Seldom on the market. Hefty at 698 grams mass.
