Item Description

Sharp, lustrous, gray with translucent zones of cherry-red on broken faces, trapezohedral almandine garnets are nicely clustered on quartz matrix. This fine old-timer is from an old iron mine and are prized by local collectors. Bruised crystals are noted, but this remains a showy, highly representative and rare example of the combination species and locale. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection.
