Item Description

Lesotho is a small, landlocked nation surrounded by South Africa. Diamond mining supports a significant part of the economy. Collector-grade mineral specimens are nearly unheard of from this nation. A stunning, sharp, 6.2 cm, almandine garnet trapezohedron with minor dodecahedral faces is jauntily perched on an even large garnet fragment. The crystal faces are highly lustrous on this dark reddish-brown crystal, which also hosts numerous areas of reddish-orange gemminess. The display view of the crystal has only a trivial bit of periphery wear. Contacting on the back of the piece is out of sight. This is extremely rare material from this country. It is also a very fine, large almandine from any worldwide locale. The base has been sawed to enhance the considerable display quality. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Herb valued this unique piece at $400, five or more years ago. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON.
