Item Description
Almandine specimens are VERY RARE from any of the four localties, that MINDAT lists from Chelyabinsk Oblast. There are no photos in the Locality Gallery. Numerous sharp, lustrous, wine-red dodecahedrons, to 1.1 cm, are richly embedded in the large, sculptural, sparkly chorite schist matrix plate. Some of the crystals have a nice orangy-red glow, when back lit. Ex Ted Bartels Collection. Older materal marketed in the early 1990s, when the Fersman Museum of Moscow first came to the US. Rare and desirable Russian almandine.
