Item Description
RARE almandine garnet from the well-known Royal Gorge area of Fremont County, Colorado - the same famous tourist site that draws year-round crowds to see the famous Royal Gorge Bridge. The complete all-around, large sharp trapezohedron is moderately lustrous, mottled brown. MINDAT does not list Royal Gorge as an almandine locale. Ex Lee Burnett Collection of Morrison, Colorado. Very rare, perhaps unique, Colorado almandine. A MUST for the species or Colorado collector.
