Item Description
A textbook 3.3 x 3.2 alamandine garnet dodecahedron is dramatically perched on large sculptural schist matrx on this very fine example from the famous Otz Valley. The lustrous garnet has typical mottled wine-red color, with both opaque and slightly translucent areas. Complete all-around and essentially pristine, with only trivial edge wilbers and a bit of contacting. The garnets are physically extracted from the enclosing schist and are lightly buffed to bring out the luster and color. This classic locale has fascinated European collectors for hundreds of years. Excellent, sculptural and classic large Otz Valley matrix alamandine garnet with numerous fine display views.
