Mineral specimens from these obscure prospects in the famous Oxford pegmatite field are RARE. This perphaps unique old combination features a pristine, sharp, lustrous, 2.0 cm, almandine garnet trapezohedron jauntily perched atop the pegmatitic quartz and smoky quartz matrix. The reddish-brown garnet glows with areas of orange-red translucence, when backlit. The impressions where other almandines rested on the quartz add pizzazz. Ex Earl Calvert Collection (1904-1964), a prominent California collector and comes with a Neal Yedlin label.
