Item Description

An attractive Garnet crystal from a find in February of 2021 from the Jaipur District of India. We weren't given a specific mine or locality when we bought the lot from our source in India, and we were told that the crystals are being found in a completely new area, mostly dug at the surface. This piece is a complete "floater" textbook dodecahedron with smooth, sharp faces and a dark brownish-red color on the surface. When the crystal is backlit, a deep glowing blood red hue can be seen in some areas. Typically, crystals like this are opaque, but this one passes light, though it's not transparent. This piece would make a great addition to any collection of worldwide Garnets, thumbnail sized pieces or pieces showing excellent morphology.
