Item Description

A fine, large and sharp, almandine garnet from this well-known North Carolina locale. The lustrous crystal is a textbook dodecahedron and has mottled dark red to cherry-red to brown colors. The bright cherry-red areas are translucent/gemmy. Complete all-around and pristine, the basal faces are lightlly contacted, but have very little damage. Excellent quality and size. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection, whose label indicates the piece was collected in 1939!
