Item Description

The Tyrol region of Austria is a classic and important locality for Almandine Garnets, dating back hundreds of years. Here, we have four textbook Almandine dodecahedrons perched on a gray-green schist. Although opaque, these dark reddish-brown crystals exhibit surface coloration of a wine-red hue. Aside from the removal of schist from around the crystals by physical means, this specimen is completely natural (and, the sharp shape is natural). The largest Almandine is an impressive 3.5 cm across, and it is complemented nicely by the other three crystals. Dramatic aesthetics for this classic small cabinet.
