Item Description

These are classics of European mineralogy and collecting: Exceptionally aesthetic and sculptural pristine 360-degree intergrown cluster of sharp, lustrous, almandine garnet dodecahedrons artistically set on the granite schist matrix from this historic Austrian locale. The large crystal is 3.5 cm across and the opaque crystals have a rich wine-red color. This important locale has fascinated European collectors for hundreds of years. The garnets are physically extracted from the enclosing schist and are then lightly buffed to bring out the beautiful luster and color (full disclosure, that means they are slightly polished...but with original form as accepted for this material). An outstanding almandine garnet from the Wally Mann Collection of Dallas. The piece was exhibited in the MAD (Mineralogical Association of Dallas) 2020 Tucson Show case.
