Item Description

This is an interesting specimen of Almandine from an uncommon locality in Colorado. The piece comes with a Rocksmiths label that simply says "Canon City", so a specific locality is not easy to ascertain. The piece a group of dodecahedral / trapezohedral crystals of dark reddish brown Almandine on matrix. The largest crystal measures 1.2 cm. The piece comes from the collection of Allen Heyl, a deceased geologist from Colorado, and the namesake for the Turquoise group phosphate, Aheylite.
