Item Description

A classic specimen from a lesser known New England locality. The piece features a deep reddish colored crystal group trapezohedra of Almandine measuring up to 1.0 cm across. It is certainly worthwhile for any collector of this material. The piece comes from the collection of noted Colorado geologist Allen Heyl, for whom the species Aheylite was named. The piece comes with a label that says it's "Spessartine" from "Lyme, Connecticut", but I'm fairly confident that it's from the Lyman Viaduct.
