Item Description

A classic representation of the famous dark reddish-brown Almandine crystals from the famous Zillertal in the Tyrol of Austria. These specimens are instantly recognizable for their larger sized, well-formed Garnets on schist matrix. This piece comes to us from the collection of Alfred Stevenson and features robust, sharp, well-formed, dodecahedra of dark reddish-brown Almandine measuring up to 4.2 cm on mica schist matrix. Great quality all around, with only a tiny bit of damage. Showy, aesthetic and good quality for the material. As far as I know, Almandine is the only mineral found at this location, which has provided collectors with impressive display specimens for decades.
