"Alligator" Smoky Quartz

Here we have a wonderful, three-dimensional display piece of the famous "alligator" Quartz specimen from Divino das Laranjeiras. The piece is nearly a complete "floater" as it's actually crystallized on the top, the sides and even underneath, but there are a few contacts that keeps its from being 100% pristine. I love the quality and color contrast of the Quartz crystals themselves which range from almost "Morion" black to complete colorless. The faces are notably sharp and lustrous, and the piece is quite gemmy when backlit. You can see that there are stepped "scale"-like faces all over the piece, not unlike the scales of the back of an alligator, hence the name. Every side shows something different. A great piece for any fan of crystallized Quartz. From a prominent Midwest collection that we recently purchased. Valued at $800.
