Alligator' Smoky Quartz

A dramatic and sculptural, smoky quartz specimen from Minas Gerais. These smokies have the striking "alligator" look, where the quartz crystals look like the large plates in an alligator"s hide. Many of these very glassy, transparent smoky quartz crystals have distinctive darker crystal edges. This particular flattened piece is a doubly terminated floater and one end looks like jagged mountain range! The back is contacted, but is completely crystallized with intense, stepped-growth. Overall, this excellent, complete all-around piece is nearly pristine, with only very trivial lower termination wear on the backside. Excellent material of very high and select quality.
