Item Description
Allemontite is the old synonym for stibarsen, originally named for the locality in France in 1772 (MINDAT). It is a rare natural alloy of arsenic and antimony. This is a VERY RARE combination specimen from the historic silver mines at St. Andreasberg. Matte finish, partially rounded and scalloped (typical), metallic gray stibarsen is intergrown with sections of splendent metallic-gray galena. The matrix is calcite that fluoresces moderate pink. An important old-times rarities combination specimen from this famous locality and the Samson Mine. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7177 and acquired from the Lidstrom's at the Tucson Show in 1974. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record) and she assembled a nice suite of classics and rarities from this famed district. Comes with an older German label. See the Mineralogical Record St. Andreasberg Special Issue, May-June, 2017, Vol. 48, No. 3.
