Item Description

From an old East Coast collection, accompanied by a label from Larry Conklin (who refers to it as an old time specimen), here we have a superb, classic Alpine display piece from Austria. Sharp, well-formed, lustrous, porcelain-esque crystals of off-white colored Albite (variety: "Pericline") measuring up to 2.1 cm sit beautifully atop matrix. The crystals show the characterisc elongation along the {b} axis. When you look closely, you can see that the luster is high, even what I would call a "wet" luster, especially when compared to all Feldspar species from other world localities. The piece is not 100% complete, as a few crystals are contacted, but many of them are pristine and beautiful. For a specimen of Albite, you cannot deny the stellar quality and good aesthetics. There are many great localities in the European Alps for Pericline, but some of the best specimens of this material are found in Austria specifically.
