Item Description
The famous Acushnet Quarry in Massachusetts is famous for producing some of the best "Alpine-type" quality mineral specimens from any locality in the United States. Some of the pieces from this locality are markedly similar to their true Alpine counterparts (particularly from Switzerland and Austria). This piece is a wonderful small cabinet sized group of rather sharp, lustrous, porcelain-white somewhat blocky crystals of Albite (var: Pericline) with individual crystals measuring up to 1.3 cm long on matrix. The vast majority of the crystals are undamaged, and the piece presents well as you can see. The best aspect of this specimen is that it's not coated by "Chlorite", like so many I've seen from this locality, and it's refreshing to see such pristine un-coated crystals. A very worthwhile and fine quality example of these beautiful and less commonly seen specimens from an unlikely locality. From the collection of Gerry Morvell.
