Item Description

A classic Alpine Pericline specimen from Grieswies in the famous Hohe Tauern in Austria. This locality is well-known for producing some truly impressive Pericline specimens. This piece features excellent quality, "porcelain"-esque, highly lustrous, robust, sharp, thick, blocky tabular crystals of Albite (var: Pericline) measuring up to 4.8 cm long assocaited with a bit of Clinochlore on the base and a tiny colorless GEM quality Calcite on the underside. The crystals are incredibly well-formed and the majority of them are damage free, but some of them are contacted so the piece is not 100% damage free. A few crystals have a bit of sub-surface iron content, which gives them character and allows them to stand out as opposed if they were all stark white. Very three-dimensional and excellent quality in terms of crystal form and luster. The piece comes with a nice hand-written label from Professor Johann Zenz of Gloggnitz, Austria. Priced at $700 in the inventory.
