Item Description
An interesting old-time specimen (based upon the very early catalogue number) of Albite (var: Cleavelandite) from an undisclosed locality in Pala. The crystals are sharp and smooth with a slightly more blocky tabular habit than we're used to seeing for Cleavelandite. The crystals have a off-white / grey hue and superb glistening luster. Hard to photograph, but nice in person. Although many pristine crystal faces can be seen, there are some broken crystals on the specimen. A cool reference piece that would make a nice addition to any Feldspar suite or a collection of San Diego County specimens. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#182). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
