Item Description

Mineral specimens of ANY type are RARE from this former open pit mine uranium-bearing quartz vein, hosted in Paleozoic two-mica granite and abandoned in the late 1960s (MINDAT). This impressive and sculptural large plate is dominated by a striking, sharply terminated, euhedral, 7.6 x 4.0 cm albite crystal. The matte-finish, bone-white albite is beautifully accented by the row of glassy quartz points in the front and a few scattered crystals on the top faces. The aesthetically plated albite rests on a matrix of dense, pearlescent cleavelandite blades and a few smaller albites. RARE and very choice large combination material from the Basil Orellana Collection.
