Item Description

The ancient mines at Nagyag are the Type Locality for alabandite, Mg-sulfide. The rich, large vein specimen hosts pods and stringers of gray-black alabandite and starkly contrasting pastel-pink rhodochrosite, quartz stringers and wall rock breccia fragments. The piece of attached wall rock gives real context to the mode of deposition of this vein. Undoubtably old material, but no proof.
