Item Description

The famous and ancient gold mines at Nagyag (Scarimb) are the Type Locality for alabandite, Mn-sulfide. Specimens from here, with numerous sharp large crystals are quite rare and are highly desirable. Sharp octahedral crystals, to 2.0 cm, have metallic luster, nifty stepped-growth faces, partial coatings of iron oxides and are aesthetically set in a matrix of botryoidal hematite and galena. This very fine and rare old-timer comes with a torn OLD Krantz label dating from 1850-52, as the Berlin is marked out in favor of Bonn. Outstanding and rare old-time material from the University of Pennsylvania and Charles Noll Collections. Valued?
