Item Description

This piece dates back to a discovery circa 2010. It's a wonderful miniature sized example of the rare manganese sulfide, Alabandite from the famous Uchucchacua Mine in Peru. The piece hosts many sharp crystals of metallic, steel-grey colored Alabandite measuring up to 8 mm, with contrasting white Calcite on matrix. No major damage that I can see with the naked eye, outside of the edge where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. Fine example for this find, which produced some of the finest Alabandite crystals ever seen. Valued $750.
From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl (#1526).
