Item Description

Sharp crystals of alabandite, an uncommon Mn-sulfide, are generally rare worldwide. Small finds from 2008-10 yielded some of the finest crystals in the world from this large mine, famous for wire silver, acanthite and rhodochrosite specimens. Sharp, lustrous, grayish-brown, octahedrons and cuboctahedrons are nicely set in the matrix of massive alabandite with calcite. The impressive large octo is 1.6 cm. A choice and most excellent minature example of this fine rarity from this locale. Valued at $750.
