Ajoite included in Quartz (polished)

Item Description

Ajoite is a RARE copper silicate and the Messina Mine has easily produced the world's finest examples of these unique and beautiful Quartz crystals. The polished, glassy, lustrous, translucent termination faces of this impressive large quartz crystal are included with beautiful turquoise-blue Ajoite from the famous Messina Mine. Specimens were intermittently collected in 1985, 1991 and finally 2007-2010. See the 1991 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 22, No. 3. The mine closed in 1996. These are one of the most famous of all mineral combination specimens for the collector and this is an excellent example of a large included quartz crystal with polished faces. Most of these are lightly polished, to show the gorgeous floating inclusions, and this is as well, but preserving the original shape of the crystal in a careful manner is the key, as was done here. A fine specimen, rare on the market today.
