Ajoite in Quartz

This is a superb small cabinet piece of Ajoite included Quartz from South Africa, from the most famous and original finds here in the late 1980s! While most were singles, only a very few fine clusters were recovered intact and in such quality - priced, even in those days, at more than their weight in gold. Turquoise blue patches of inclusions of fine Ajoite are prominent within the two larger gemmy Quartz crystals, and several others around the base. The largest of the tall pair of crystals is 6 cm and displays large patches of turquoise-blue Ajoite within the termination and in the body of the crystal near the pyramidal termination, resulting in a really nice internal phantom - somewhat unusual. The adjacent large crystal shows a few small, feathery smudges of Ajoite and four of the crystals at the base feature prominent turquoise-blue inclusions near the top of each crystal. There are several other even smaller Quartz crystals at the base most of which show some evidence of Ajoite inclusions. This is truly an exceptional small cabinet specimen by any standard for the locality. Specimens not as good at this have turned up, only rarely, and always in 5 figures pricing. Material from this particular discovery is simply legendary, and nearly impossible to purchase today.
