Item Description
A dramatic, impressive and rare large quartz crystal combination from finds at the famous Messina Mine, renowned for superb ajoite in quartz specimens. Two striking and rare patches of copper wires (the copper 'snake' is 2.7 cm long) along with beautiful patches of powder-blue ajoite leap out of three termination faces of the sharply terminated crystal. The lustrous quartz is transparent to translucent with frosted faces. Amazingly, three prism faces (only where the ajoite and copper are above!) of the hexagonal crystal have striking preferential horizontal etching! Complete all-around. The termination is pristine. A contact/ding is noted lower on one termination edge by the ajoite and copper and a larger prism edge ding is totally out-of-sight in all major display views. This remains a fantastic and rare large combination example of the species and locale. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and obtained in 1993. Value of such a large rarity?? approx $1500 I would think. This is old material, hard to obtain now.
