Item Description

A VERY well-formed, sharp, prismatic crystal of silvery grey color Agrellite from the famous locality at Kipawa. Most of the pieces of this rare sodium calcium silicate are broken "chunks" ore massive samples, but this piece actually has good crytsal form which is quite rare in my experience. As far as I can remember, this is the best quailty crystal of this material that I've offered in any format for sale or auction. It might not have a great appearance in daylight, but it fluoresces bright pink under SW UV light (one section of the piece oddly fluoresces green), and under LW UV light the piece fluoresces more of a purple color. From the type locality, this is more than a reference specimen! This piece comes from the collection of Allen Heyl, a geologist from Colorado (now deceased) and the namesake for the Turquoise group species, Ahyelite.
