Item Description

A stunning, sculptural pair from a sliced and polished hollow, very elongate colony of coral - you can see the pattern on the outside - that has been replaced or filled inside with botryoidal and banded chalcedony. The lustrous botryoids have a variety of color, from pretty lavender to vibrant burnt-orange to creamy. This is a striking contrast to the grayish-brown rims! This is one of those unusual cases where biology meets mineralogy. This is a dramatic specimen. Ex Schlichter Collection.
