Item Description

A stunning, sculptural pair from a sliced and polished hollow, very artistic colony of coral - you can see the pattern on the outside - that has been replaced or filled inside with botryoidal and banded chalcedony. The polished faces have amazing transparency and the lustrous botryoids have a variety of colors, from subtle lavender to vibrant golden-yellow to red to creamy. This is a striking contrast to the grayish-white rims! This is one of those unusual cases where biology meets mineralogy. This is a dramatic specimen. Ex Hauck Collection.
