Item Description
A stunning pair of the largest and finest sliced and polished hollow fossilized colony of coral we have offered at auction. You can see the coral patterns on the outside - that have been replaced or filled inside with botryoidal and banded chalcedony. The botryoids have a variety of pretty pastel colors, from reddish-orange to creamy. This is a striking contrast to the water-clear, amber rims! This is one of those unusual cases where biology meets mineralogy. This is a dramatic pair and specimens of this size and quality are normally reserved for the Gallery or customers. 8.6 pounds or 3.9 kilos total weight.
