Item Description
This is a seldom seen specimen of Agate replacing botryoidal Coral from the Tampa Bay area in Florida. Sometimes these specimens are categorized as being fossilized, but in mineral terms, this would certainly qualify as a pseudomorph. The piece has a beautiful mix of grey-blue and caramel colors when, along with the fantastic botryoidal and "sponge"-like forms. The wonderful overall shape of the piece combined with the fact that this is a mineral replacing organic matter (similar to petrified wood, or clam shells replaced by Opal) makes it a very desirable specimen in my mind. One of the very few pieces of the material that I had to offer in the auctions recently.
