Item Description
A really cool and eye-catching specimen of Agate replacing botryoidal Coral from Tampa Bay in Florida. I have seen this material categorized as being fossilized, but in mineral terms, this would certainly qualify as a pseudomorph. The piece has a beautiful mix of golden, blue, caramel and cream colors when viewed in reflected light, and when strongly backlit, the piece is actually gemmy! showing a lovely dark amber hue. The interesting form combined with the fact that this is a mineral replacing organic matter (similar to petrified wood, or clam shells replaced by Opal). The piece has been polished around the outer edge, but this does not take away from the unique appearance. Great to view from several directions, and one of the very few pieces of the material that I have seen.
