Item Description
Superlative, very sharp, rare agatized aquatic gastropods from the Jurassic-aged, Brushy Basin Member of the Morrison Formation of Mesa County, Colorado. The largest gastropod is 1.5 cm The fossil definition is outstanding, as is the aesthetic placement on the very sculptural sandstone matrix, which has a lot of agatized fossil fragments (shell hash). The fossils have a very pretty brick-red color and are translucent. Gastopod fossils of this quality are very rare from this locality. The species is Viviparous reesidei and this is the 'Type Locality'. UNUSUAL AND INTERESTING OLD COLORADO MATERIAL! this is the richest matrix specimen we have had
