Item Description

A superlative, very sharp, 1.5 x 1.3 cm, rare agatized aquatic gastropod from the Jurassic-aged, Brushy Basin Member of the Morrison Formation of Mesa County, Colorado. The fossil definition is outstanding, as is the aesthetic placement on the sculptural sandstone matrix, which is loaded with agatized fossil fragments and smaller gastropods (shell hash). The fossils have a very pretty brick-red color and are translucent. Gastopod fossils of this quality are very rare from this locality. The species is Viviparous reesidei and this is the 'Type Locality'. UNUSUAL AND INTERESTING OLD COLORADO MATERIAL!
