Item Description
A classic and beautiful example of the famous specimens of Agate from Agate Creek, Etheridge Shire, Queensland, Australia. This is the most well-known Agate locality in the entire country, and for good reason as the Agates are vividly colored (naturally, not dyed) and show gorgeous internal banding patterns. Most of the specimens from this area are found as nodules that are sliced and polish to better show off their internal beauty. Although the locality has been known since at least the 1890s, there wasn't a lot of collecting at Agate Creek until the second half of the 20th Century. This piece features alternating bands of golden-yellow, golden-brown and red Agate (with a few thin white stripes mixed in the center) to create a showy and fine quality example of this classic material. From the collection of Robert ("Bob") Nowakowski (#832). Specimen weight is 46.1 grams.
