Item Description
This complex alumosilicate is one of the more obscure members of the Cancrinite group, especially in fine quality specimens. Typically Afghanite crystals, no matter how saturated the color may be, are opaque. This specimen hosts a fairly sharp, and well-formed hexagonal crystal of Afghanite measuring 3.8 cm with a lovely gemmy Sapphire blue color jutting out of a massive white Calcite matrix. No damage, save the bottom where it was removed from the pocket wall. Great quality and VERY large for the species. It's not easy to find matrix specimen with crystals this size on the market today as they seemed to have dried up in recent years. A good display specimen of a species that is only found in good sized specimens from one part of the world. Priced at $1,500 in the inventory
