Item Description

This complex alumosilicate is one of the more obscure members of the Cancrinite group, especially in fine quality specimens. Typcially Afghanite crystals, no matter how saturated the color may be, are opaque. This specimen hosts a somewhat crude, 4.8 cm crystal of Afghanite with a very dark Sapphire blue color sitting flat against the matrix. The size of the crystal is notable for the species, and despite the contact on one end, it's surprisingly sharp for the material as well. More than a reference specimen of a species that is really only found in good sized display specimens from one part of the world.
