Item Description
Aerinite is a very rare chemically complex carbonate-bearing silicate. It is a hydrothermal mineral of the zeolite facies, formed at relatively low temperature, in fractures cutting mafic igneous rocks (MINDAT). Three sides of the matrix are richly covered with powder-blue aerinite crusts. Two of the sides are striking chatoyant and striated and look to be slickensides. A rich, colorful and showy piece from near the Type Locality from the Matioli Collection. Seldom on the market.
