Item Description

Here we have a showy and fine quality specimen of these classic Aegirines. Without question, the largest and finest examples of Aegirine ever found are those from Mount Malosa, Malawi. The various alkali pegmatites on this mountain are almost certainly the most well-known locality in Malawi. This particular specimen features a few fine, sharp, highly lustrous, deep greenish-black prismatic crystals of Aegirine with minor associated and a twinned group of tan Epididymite for a great touch. Aegirine is a Pyroxene species, typically found in dull examples, but you would be hard-pressed to find sharper or more LUSTROUS crystals than those from Mount Malosa.
From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl (#1686).
