Item Description

Without questions, the finest and largest Aegirine crystals ever found are those from Mount Malosa in Malawi. This well-known locality is the most famous specimen producer in all of Malawi and is regarded for its REE pegmatite minerals. This particular specimen features a fine, sharp, highly lustrous, deep greenish-black prismatic crystal of Aegirine measuring 2.6 cm aesthetically flaring off of cream colored Feldspar matrix (either Microcline or Orthoclase) along with a few additional Aegirine crystals, creating a very showy and three-dimensional specimen. Aegirine is a Pyroxene species, typically found in dull examples, but you would be hard pressed to find sharper or more lustrous crystals than those from Mount Malosa. No major damage and very presentable and eye-catching.
