Adularia with Chlorite coating

A pair of large, intergrown and angular Adularia crystals dominate this Chlorite included and coated piece from the Untersulzbach Valley of Austria. The sharply formed and intergrown, three-dimensional crystals are 3.7 and 3.8 cm in maximum dimension, respectively, and have included some of the forest green Chlorite in the very last stages of growth. They still retain some of their bright luster even with the Chlorite. The duo rests on a densely crystalline aggregate of numerous Chlorite coated Adularia crystals from 0.3 to 1 cm in size. The original bright white color of the Adularia can be seen around the periphery of the piece, and in places on the display surface, providing a nice contrast.
